llms.txtGenerator
Build a valid llms.txt file — H1 site name, optional blockquote summary, and H2 sections of curated links — ready to copy or download as a file.
Site details
Important pages
Rows sharing a section heading are grouped under one ## Section block, in the order you add them. Rows without a heading land under ## Pages. Pages starting with / are resolved against your site URL. Duplicate URLs are dropped.
Your llms.txt
# My Site
Save this file as llms.txt at your site root (or at a subpath — it then describes the pages under that path). Treat it like robots.txt: re-generate it when you add, rename, or retire pages, and keep it small enough to fit comfortably in a context window.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a community proposal, published at llmstxt.org, for a markdown file at a website's root that gives AI agents a concise, curated overview of a site's most useful pages. The proposal describes a fixed structure: an H1 with the site name (the only required part), an optional blockquote summary, then H2 sections containing markdown link lists of the form - [title](url): notes.
It sits alongside robots.txt rather than replacing it: robots.txt states what automated tools may access, while llms.txt is read on demand when an agent needs to find the right page. The proposal notes that thousands of sites already publish the file, and that AI labs publish llms.txt files for their own developer docs.
Keep it short
List only the pages worth starting from — canonical docs, pricing, top guides. The file should stay small; detail lives behind the links.
Link canonical pages
Point to the URLs you want agents to land on. Skip duplicates, tag archives, and redirect chains.
Update it
Revisit it the way you revisit robots.txt — when site structure changes, the file should change too.

Crawlers still have to reach you first. Pair this file with a robots.txt built for OAI-SearchBot and OAI-AdsBot, check how OpenAI's crawlers resolve your site with the OpenAI Crawler Checker, and measure how often AI answers cite you with the AEO Score tool. Background on the crawlers themselves is in our OpenAI crawlers guide.
